​Whom We Represent

The contracted City Attorney’s office consists of a civil attorney’s office and a prosecuting attorney’s office. The attorneys represent the City, advise and represent Fridley’s elected officials in legal matters concerning the City and provide legal services to City officials and departments.

Legal Opinions

To avoid conflicts of interest, the City Attorney’s office does not provide legal opinions on private matters that do not involve the City of Fridley or an officer, employee or agent of the City acting in their official capacity. The City’s attorney’s do not represent private parties in civil or criminal City of Fridley matters.

Legal Representation

The City Attorney’s office cannot refer you to a specific attorney or endorse any attorney in private practice. However, if you are in need of legal representation for a private matter, you can call the Minnesota Bar Association at 612-333-1183 or visit their website to obtain names for evaluation. The City of Fridley is seeking proposals for legal services that would extend from January 1, 2020 to December 15, 2025. While the scope of these services is generally civil in nature, it does extend to criminal prosecution of property maintenance, licensing and rental housing code violations.
