Project Update #14 June 21, 2022
The City's contractor, Peterson Companies, will begin importing fill this week to fix the settling issue in the open play area.
Project Update #13 March 23, 2022
The snow is melting allowing us to determine the extent of the settling in the open play area. We will work with our contractor to fix this issue in the late spring. Other final improvements planned for late spring/early summer include:
- Installation of poured-in-place rubber surfacing in parts of the playground
- Installation of benches and tables
- Finalization of tennis court including fencing on the front and back of court
- Any needed vegetation establishment
- Removal of erosion control materials
Project Update #12 November 2, 2021
We are excited about the recent improvements and transformation of Craig Park. That said, after some settling following the final grading activities, the new open area has a depression that is holding water. The intent of the drainage design was to sheet flow the runoff from the open area to the new swales that ultimately convey stormwater to the south end of the park. The contractor is aware of the issue and our approach is to allow the vegetation to get established through the remainder of the fall season. Over the winter season the accumulated snow will provide additional compaction and then we will correct the issue next spring. This will involve importing some additional fill material and raising the open area as needed to ensure it drains to the swales. Our perspective on waiting next season is to make less of a disturbance to the unvegetated topsoil. Along with completion of playground area, the tennis and basketball courts will be painted next spring and we may see the fence installed before snowfall. Please contact us if you have any additional concerns as you use the newly improved park.
