The City of Fridley has been working closely with our local district partners, both Anoka Conservation District and Coon Creek Watershed District to develop the plans for Apex Pond. Apex Pond was constructed in 1999 and was last cleaned in 2010. The first step in this project is to dredge the pond of overgrown vegetations, broken trees, debris, and sediment buildup that has accumulated over the years.
The second stage in the project is to enhance the pond by increasing the stormwater storage volume. This will add flood storage and reduce overall maintenance. Additionally, new shrub plantings will be established around the pond.
Construction Project Status:
This project has been awarded to New Look Contracting, Inc. out of Rodgers, MN. As of right now, we do not have a schedule of when the Contractor would like to start. We anticipate construction to begin in late Summer to late Fall of 2023. Once a schedule from the contractor has been provided, we will provide weekly updates. If you would like to be added to our weekly update email list, please send an email to web-StreetProjects@fridleymn.gov with your name and let us know you want to be added to the Apex Pond Enhancement update group!
