Vote Early

In Minnesota eligible voters do not have to wait until Election Day to vote. Voters may vote early with an Absentee Ballot.

Vote Early In Person

Any Fridley resident who wishes to vote early may do so by Absentee Ballot beginning 46 days before Election Day at the Fridley Civic Campus. After submitting an Absentee Ballot Application, you will be given a ballot and able to cast it in person that day.

When absentee voting at the Fridley Civic Campus, no campaigning is allowed in the building or within 100 feet of the building. This includes campaign buttons, signs or clothing. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Early voting for the Presidential Nominating Primary begins at the Fridley Civic Campus starting Friday, January 19, during regular hours:

  • Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

During the extended hours listed:

  • Saturday, March 2, 2024: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Monday, March 4, 2024: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registration Status

All absentee voters must submit an Absentee Ballot Application, regardless of registration status. If a voter is not registered, or their registration has expired, they are required to re-register by filling out the Election Day Registration form.

Can I vote by Absentee Ballot if I’m not a registered voter?

If you are not a registered voter, that is not a problem. When you apply for an Absentee Ballot you will be provided with a Voter Registration Application.

How do I return my Absentee Ballot?

Once you receive your ballot, read and follow the instructions carefully. Return your ballot to the address on the return envelope. You have three options:

  • Mailed ballot envelopes must arrive by March 5, 2023.
  • Hand delivered ballots may be delivered to Fridley City Hall or the Anoka County Government Center by 3 p.m. by March 5, 2023;

Can I return my Absentee Ballot to a polling place on Election Day?

No. Absentee Ballots may NOT be delivered to your polling location on Election Day.

Can I place my Absentee Ballot directly into a ballot counter at City Hall?

All eligible voters who vote at the Civic Campus less than seven days prior to Election Day, may place their ballots directly into a ballot counter. This time period is called Direct Balloting. Votes will be counted immediately, but results will not be reported until the polls close on Election Day.

Please note, high turnout is expected at the Civic Campus during Direct Balloting. We will do our best to get voters through the line as quickly and efficiently as possible. Thank you in advance for your patience.
